Adding sales tax to a waiting customer
When adding sales tax to a waiting customer, the system automatically marks the status as current leaving the other services in waiting. When adding a new service under utilities, the greyed out box that is labeled utility status needs to be a drop down box so we can change the status ourselves.
Thank you for the suggestion. After reviewing this behavior, we've determined that it is working as designed rather than being a defect.
When sales tax is set up as a standalone service rather than as an additional fee within an existing service, the system treats it like any other new service being added — which triggers the status change to Current. This typically occurs when the tax service was not included on the account at the time of move-in.
The recommended solution is to ensure the tax service is assigned to the account during the initial move-in process. When set up correctly at that stage, this situation is avoided entirely.
Because this is intentional system behavior rather than a gap, we won't be moving forward with a change to make the Utility Status field an editable dropdown at this time. If the underlying setup process is something we can help clarify or document further, please reach out to our technical support group.
